Frequently Asked Questions About Massage Therapy

What is Traditional Thai Massage?

Thai yoga massage is a healing art form that is over 2,500 years old. The art form is also commonly known as “yoga massage” or “Thai yoga massage,” as the practice is essentially a form of assisted yoga performed by the giver, with the receiver completely passive throughout. The practitioner uses yoga stretches, compressions and acupressure over the energy lines of the body to restore and balance energy. It brings greater symmetry and increased mobility to the musculoskeletal system. Thai massage takes place on a futon mat on the floor, and you wear loose fitting clothing.

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

CranioSacral therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanism to dissipate the negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You also benefit from better resistance to disease. CranioSacral therapy addresses migraines and headaches, chronic neck and back pain and stress and tension-related disorders. In addition, CranioSacral therapy can benefit those with Autism, motor-coordination impairments and infant and childhood disorders. We’ve also seen success with those who have brain and spinal cord Injuries or chronic fatigue. These sessions are conducted with the client fully clothed.

What is a Far Infrared Sauna?

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses light to create heat. These saunas are sometimes called far-infrared saunas. “Far” describes where the infrared waves fall in the light spectrum. A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body. An infrared sauna warms your body directly without warming the air around. The appeal of saunas in general is that they cause reactions, such as vigorous sweating and increased heart rate, similar to those elicited by moderate exercise. An infrared sauna produces these results at lower temperatures than a regular sauna, which makes it accessible to people who can’t tolerate the heat of a conventional sauna. Far infrared sauna benefits the body by heating it directly, causing a rise in core temperature resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside.Several studies have looked at using infrared saunas in the treatment of chronic health problems, such as high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and rheumatoid arthritis, and found evidence of benefit. On the other hand, no adverse effects have been reported with infrared saunas. So if you’re considering trying a sauna for relaxation, an infrared sauna might be an option.
